We have purchased a Honeywell digital programmable thermostat and followed directions. No luck. Tried a Hunter digital. No luck. The only two wires are red and white. We have followed the directions. The a/c unit runs, but it will not shut off when it hits the desired temp. It has to be manually shut off at the unit.Any advice on wiring a two wire digital thermostat in a mobile home?
Some systems in mobile homes require a special thermostat or special wiring application. Why are you changing the thermostat in the first place? Were you having a problem before you changed the stat? You have to make sure this stat will accommodate a two-wire heat-cool circuit. Does the indoor fan shut off when you switch the stat off and just the outdoor unit remain running? Run it through a heat cycle and see if that is functioning properly. Some outdoor A/C condensing units have a separate transformer aside from the one that operates the furnace low-voltage circuit. If the heat works fine and the indoor fan shuts off after a cooling cycle, but the outdoor unit remains running this could be due to the fact that it is getting a ';constant'; signal to the contactor control outside or you could have a direct ';short'; or a stuck contactor. Either way, it may be necessary to call a reputable service technician out to look at it. Damaging thermostats and transformers by mis-wiring can get to be expensive. I hope that this was helpful for you. Good luck.Any advice on wiring a two wire digital thermostat in a mobile home?
