What advice could you give a family looking to purchase a home in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area?

We currently live out of state, but will be moving to the area. We need advice on the market, neighborhoods, school districts everything.What advice could you give a family looking to purchase a home in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area?
Bigger is better!! Market in TX is great. 3000 sqft house for like 250,000. nice one too!!What advice could you give a family looking to purchase a home in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area?
Ah... grasshopper you looking to buy in this market only buy preforeclosed short sales... everything else will cost too much and you will lose value especially in a slow market like Dallas. Visit platinumreic dot com for more info...

Real Estate Zen...
Any Day Now,

u'll get plenty of answers where to buy and what. however unless ur family has 5 or more kids. (kids can double up in rooms -won't scar them mind wise). suggest u rent(temporarily) one year. while u and family scout out the surrounding areas. get a feel for the taxes and expenses of TAXes(texas) realestate. the drive patterns to work.

allow the market to adjust down ward , save ur cash for the new house . get all ur bills down sized, save a lot of emergency cash(it will be needed).we have some pricey electric summer bills.

cause in todays job market last person in is first person out.

worst place to be is in new house/mortgage, downward value, jobless.
go to www.bestplaces.net and see what comments people who live there have left. They have insights not often reported, good and bad.

example: ';beware allergy/asthma sufferers';-Dallas is not a great place for asthma/allergy sufferers. My son is sick from Halloween through the end of May every year. We're looking for a healthier home.';
All the suburbs around Dallas are going to be expensive. If you can I would look around Fort Worth or even a little further West than Fort Worth, depending on where you will be working. The further away from Dallas you go the cheaper it usually is. I would check places like Burleson, Crowley, Weatherford, Aledo, Mansfield...They all have excellent schools and would be more reasonable than Dallas.
