Need Advice on recording mics and recording techniques for an upright grand?

I would like to record myself playing on the upright grand piano I have in the house. The room is not soundproofed and I obviously can't stick egg cartons up in my living room. Can someone recommend a good, cheap, affordable mic that I can purchase that will make a reasonably good recording. Also, what would be the best method for recording? 1 mic? 2 mics? Mics positioned away from the piano? Mics actually situated almost inside the opening of the piano?Need Advice on recording mics and recording techniques for an upright grand?
I'd go with a $10-$25 microphone at Wal-Mart... they always work really well.

If you want to make your performance on the upright grand piano in stereo, then you will need two microphones. When recording, put your microphone(s) on the piano, preferably next to your sheet music. If you have 2 microphones (for stereo), place one on the left and one on the right of your sheet music, and use a program like Audacity to record both at the same time.Need Advice on recording mics and recording techniques for an upright grand?
for $1000 you can get amazing equipment you would be unbelievable shocked if you knew how far $1000 can go in buying recording equipment! if you have a computer just buy a small interface(2channel) and buy a stereo pair of Rode NT-5 condensors!software comes free your ready to go!
