Any advice on how to keep my living space looking good all the time? 10 points for the best answer, thanks.Advice on how to keep my apartment organized and tidy?
Yes! Become a minimalist! From personal experience I used to keep so much stuff in my apartment-almost holding onto things with the belief that one day I will use them. A rule of thumb that has worked wonders for me is if you haven't used it , worn it or needed it over the course of 2 months- review why it is you are keeping it and if you really need it.
Remember: ';LESS IS MORE'; where ornaments, clothing, cutlery, plates etc are concerned.
Also to keep general cleanliness and hygiene in check-
Dust and Spray and wipe surfaces a few times a week.
When you make a mess eg, cooking or trying on clothes make it a priority to clean up straight after. The more you procrastinate the more the mess accumulates and you don't know where to start.
There is research that a clean and organised environment has a positive impact on your emotional well being-in particular your ability to be organised during tasks.
On the opposite side a cluttered, messy environment has the opposite effect, making you feel confused, overwhelmed and indecisive.
So get cleaning and throwing out those things that have been sitting there for way too long! You know the ones...
Good luck!
P.S-stick on some music coz it helps the time pass! Also burn some aromatherapy oil in an oil burner or burn some insense for a refreshing touch to your apartment. Also fresh flowers are an ornamental feauture you can't go wrong with!
Chelsea xAdvice on how to keep my apartment organized and tidy?
Every night spend 30 minutes just before getting into bed putting things away. If you have items that are ';clutter'; but necessary, get a box or a plastic storage bin to keep these items in, then, use a pretty towel or a sheet or something to drape over it and make it look like an end table or something. Once you have a place to put your ';clutter'; make sure you spend 30 minutes just before bed putting items away. Make yourself do this and you will find, once you have it all together, you won't need as much time. The ';experts'; say it takes 21 days to make a habit, so get going. I have been doing this for over 21 years and it helps keep the house under control. It is a great feeling to wake up and SEE that the place is tidy. (If you have a dishwasher, at least load all the dishes into it, if not, rinse the dirty dishes and stack into sink if you don't do them right away. [a good hiding place for dirty dishes when you have unexpected company is in the oven if it isn't a gas oven])
I don't know what your budget is, or if you are trying to hang on to some stuff because you will get a bigger place some day and need it. But if you can afford it and that is the case, I would suggest renting a small storage place, as close by you as posssible, and start boxing up a few things at a time, that you can absolutely live without for the moment, and dropping them off. a little at a time. That way you won't regret losing something later on. .As you see your place getting roomier, it will keep your incentive to continue active . Once you get it minimized, treat yourselft to one professional detail clean ,and then keep it going from there! That way your options are open to sift thru the storage any time you have time to decide what to keep but get it in order for now.
Set yourself a time table so eg...Mondays-laundry Tues-kitchen wed-lounge thurs-toilet friday-bedroom its great because its 10 min a day to keep house tidy all the time it works for me. Buy book called speed cleaning lots of tips for busy people like you.
Good Luck hun Oh and if you havent used something in 6 months GET RID OF IT.......belongings carry energy only keep things with good energy and good memories.
I have found that the key to keeping a tidy house is storage. Invest in furniture with drawers (then use them) and try to keep down on the clutter, especially with a small space.
I am a stay at home mom with 3 boys but even before the kiddos I was always a mess. I did not know where to start and I would get side tracked when I out something up in another room and noticed I needed to pick that one up. I also keep a junk drawer and 1 cabinet under it. So once a week I clean them out the best I can. Don't be scared to throw stuff away. Get some of those stackable bins (1 for each room). When you are cleaning 1 room don't leave it just put things that don't belong in that bin. I started using flylady.net and there is a section for a control journal to help get you organized. I started there and found my own routine and ways of keeping track. I keep a notebook with to write down my scattered thoughts that get me side traked. I am very ADD so I need it to keep me on task. Play some music that can get you moving fast. I discovered microsoft task launcher. Make check lists. But if you don't finish everything just move it on to the next day. Prioritize your list. Do the small jobs first so when you are doing the big job you are not discouraged by all the other stuff you have to do. Keep a digital timer because it gives you a goal. And use it for breaks so you don't take to long. I am on a mission to get it all together so I have been finding all kinds of stuff. Keep a calendar a separate your housework such as dusting. Don't forget baseboards. and doors. Disposal cleaning clothes are great. Get a cleaning basket or bag with the basics. Sounds cheesy but find your groove and make it fun. You don't want your mess to follow you and be like me almost 30 and wonder why you have not gotten it together. Hope this helps it sounds like alot but start with some small steps.
