I feel like I have tried everything but she will not eat meat - chicken, beef, turkey, lamb...it doesn't matter what she throws everything back out.
I've tried making my own food, using the commercial food. I've tried mixing it with vegetables and fruit. No matter what I try, she picks up on the taste and won't eat it.
I was going to try giving her fish, but my doctor told me no : (
Thankfully now that she can eat egg yolk, I've been able to mix a cooked egg yolk in with her cereal in the morning. But come lunch or dinner she won't eat the meat and I'm extremely concerned that she isn't getting enough protein.
Does anyone have any recipes or suggestions on how I can get her to eat some meat? She's still eating mashed foods - some lumps %26amp; texture but mostly smooth.
Please help!Does anyone have any tips/advice on how to get my 8 month old to eat meat?
If you're still doing babyfood try buying some of those jars of ';dinners'; that have meat and veggies/fruits or whatever else all mixed together.
If you are giving her regular food I have a TON of recipes that are insane good and involve cooking different meats with fruits, preserves, etc. - if you need some please get into contact with me and I will gladly share them!
Sometimes it helps to mix different tastes, such as fruits in with the meat to give it more of a sweet taste and it will sometimes also change the texture a little as some fruits are natural meat tenderizers.
If, however, there are other foods than just specifically meat - or specific types of meat that she refuses to eat or she gags/chokes when eating these certain things make sure to mention that to your doctor as this could be something other than a simple refusal.Does anyone have any tips/advice on how to get my 8 month old to eat meat?
Some people don't like meat, period. I wouldn't worry about it too much, as you can easily get enough protein from strictly vegan sources. Check out the following websites for information about getting protein without meat.

if she doesnt want the meat dont force it. maybe a pbj sandwhich light on the pb would be a way to get protein, if u are giving her bites of your meat try cooking it differently oneof my children will only eat mediam rare, juicey cuts. but, my son is like me everything must be dry as a bone. meat has a different taste when all the juice is cooked out. u could also try that pediasure drink to replace minerals she is not getting - i just read your addition and had to comment - for crying out loaud i cant stand doc's these days - they read it in a book so it has to be gold ... WRONG how many children in the world grow up with vegitarian parents? your baby nows better then anyone what she needs in this case. it is just like the case of children that like ashtrays, they like them because they get iron from the ashes. i am sure u are a good mom and need to relax and enjoy your baby.
Make sure it isn't giving her a tummy ache. Introduce it slowly-maybe a bite or two at a time.
as far as her not getting protein you can always substitute it with beans ,sweet potato or other means of vegetables maybe she is not ready. My kids didn't eat meat till they were 12 months and they are doing great now they are over the age of 5years.
First of all doctors do not have all the answers for your specific child. All infants and children are different. My first daughter couldnt stand meat until she was 2 years old. So she got plenty of protein in beans (I would make pintos or any other kind and mix it with sweet cornbread) but 8 months old is still young to eat meat. 8 month old babies have a hard enough time trying to digest foods, and meat is the hardest to digest. I wouldnt worry with it. Try getting the baby to eat a chicken finger. Or McDonalds Nuggets. My other 2 children only eat chicken and that is by their choice and they are fine. Use your own instinct.
