What is the best advice you have ever recieved?

If you could pass on one piece of advice to your children, or the next generation, what one thing would you advise? What is the best advice you have ever recieved?
To speak up for yourself and show respect for all beings, human or animal ... doing otherwise demeans yourself more than the subject of your disrespect.

I think that learning how to communicate well, voice your feelings tactfully and without attacking is an important skill that is useful in all aspects of life. I work on that with my nearly four year old daughter... giving her words for her feelings when she doesn't yet know how to do it. I see it helping in the way that she freely expresses herself and in how well she does it for her age. I hope that it will help give her a solid base to build on.What is the best advice you have ever recieved?
