What is the best advice for introduce foods?

We have started cereal and oatmeal but I would like advice on the best way to introduce meals.

Example: Keep with cereal and add something new for lunch. I just would like some help schuduling in new foods.What is the best advice for introduce foods?
When I was doing cereal I would wait 3 hours from nursing/formula until cereal, then nurse or formula about 1 hour later. When I got up to about 1/4 cup of cereal, I could wait about 2. Then I start adding 1/8 cup veggies....gradually increasing ato 1/4 cup. Then I could wait about 2 1/2 hours. When I got through several veggies (4 days each to rule out any allergies)...I start with 1/8 cup fruit and gradually increased to 1/4 cup. Now I can go 3 hours from solids to next nurse/formula. So twice a day I do 1/4 c. cereal, veg, and fruit. Then nurse 4 times a day.

Hope this helps. Just e-mail if you have anymore questions.What is the best advice for introduce foods?
Try mixing mild flavored fruit purees into the cereal. Bannas%26amp; apples. Try yogurt too, very healthy. Stay away from yucky tasting things like peas%26amp; meats This will make your little eater aprehensive. You can also add mashed potatos %26amp; sweet potatoes. Butternut squash is another baby fav. One thing at a time, but pretty soon you'll be able to stick whatever you're having for dinner in the blender for baby.
Don't just try to feed baby straight solids right away. I introduced solids IN the rice cereal first. My daughter gradually started to notice the different flavors and after she got a little more used to the new flavors, I gave them to her food group at a time... Like only fruits for breakfast, a subtle veggie for lunch or dinner. Soon, my daughter was eating straight from the jar and loved it! I did still feed her cereal with fruit mixed in for breakfast though. That continued until she was about 6-7 months old since I was still nursing. I hope that helps, if you need more, feel free to email me! Good luck!
It all depends on your baby. Is your baby really ready for all these new foods? I am assuming your baby is ready for some solids because your baby is eating cereal. For introducing new foods you should: Introduce other solids gradually, one at a time, waiting at least three days after each new food. This way you'll get a heads-up if your baby has an allergic reaction to one of them (signs of an allergy may include diarrhea, a bloated tummy, increased gas, or a rash). If there's a family history of allergies, or your baby develops an allergic reaction during this process, start waiting up to a week between new foods. Best of luck to you!!!
You can add a new food every 3-4 days. If your baby is resistant to new things, offer the new food before the cereal, when she/he is most hungry.
I give my 7 month old....

Cereal and a bottle of milk for breakfast

then for lunch she gets 2.5 ounces of a vegi and 2.5 ounces of a fruit. and 4 ounces of milk.

then the next feeding *between lunch and dinner* she gets 6 ounces of milk and 2.5 ounces of fruit.

For dinner, she gets cereal and 2.5 ounces of of fruit and some milk.

I was told from my daughters ped. to start out on Gerber 1st foods....vegis, and once your child has ate all the vegis then you can introduce the fruits. Then once they have had both of them for awhile, you can introduce the 'desserts, and puddings and such';

Vegis include...Peas, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots. * I think thats it* and fruits are....peaches, pears, applesauce, bananas.

And because of allergies her DR told me to wait 5-7 days before introducing a new food.

Good Luck!
