What is the best advice you could give someone who is about to take their driving test?

There is an 8 week waiting list to take my test, so i have 8 weeks to prepare.

I am currently having a 3 hour lesson once a week with my instructor (please dont tell me to have more lessons, i cant afford it!).

Have you got any advice on how i can pass first time? What is the best advice you could give someone who is about to take their driving test?
just relax, dont worry about it, if you fail you can always take it again. good luck to you. xWhat is the best advice you could give someone who is about to take their driving test?
Just relax and do not take the test until you are confident in your ability to actually pass the exam. The perception is that examiners are always looking for reasons to fail new drivers. That is a misconception. Their primary function is to assure that you have the necessary skills to drive safely and be aware of your obligations as a driver. A good examiner will not try to trick you and will simply instruct you as to where to drive. They can, however, tell if your not ready and they will fail you for that.

You mentioned that you can't afford more than 8 weeks worth of lessons and you have set a deadline for yourself. That's not good. You are putting pressure on yourself before you even start. Learning to drive is not about cost. It is about responsibility and not a budgetary matter. If you can't afford the lessons how are you going to pay for the costs that are incurred when driving?
* Don't be nervous

* Talk with the examiner

* Constantly check your mirrors (make sure the examiner knows you are checking the mirrors by slightly moving your head left or right)

* Don't take any chances (e.g. if you the traffic lights amber and you think you can make it, Dont!)

* take lessons near your test centre

* Its ok to fail, don't let anyone say otherwise, you get the experience off it and come back even better, cos you know what to expect.

Wish you all the best! ;)
watch your speed! be very aware of the speedlimits when you take your test..DONT SPEED! thats an easy way to fail it. lol

wear your seatbelt.. use turn signals properly and before you change lanes.. check your blind spots.. come to a COMPLETE stop at stop signs.. that means after your car has completely stopped BEFORE the sign.. count to 3.. then look both ways to make sure traffic is clear before you put your foot on the gas again. check your rearview mirror.. not all the time.. but often enough so that the test giver can see that youre checking it. hmmmm i dunno.. just be safe.. and dont be too nervous. driving tests are pretty easy to pass.

GOOD LUCK!
Eat a meal before the test and have a good cup of coffee to perk you up.

When you are driving keep your face relaxed even if you screw up; if you look comfortable behind the wheel of the car the examiner is less likely to mark you down.

If you fail, no big deal, just book another test.
If in yourself you feel competent, there is no reason why you should fail. Stay cool calm and collected and you should be fine. The examiner realises you are nervous and make allowances, they are not looking for the perfect driver, they are looking for you to be a safe driver. I wish you well
Try and keep as calm as possible and take your time

Don't rush anything

Concentrate as hard as possible

Use your mirrors often, and signal as often as appropriate

and if in doubt about whether to signal or not - signal anyway

I passed first time

Good Luck on the day!
just be calm and pay attention to detail, pass your written, have aclean car-no in advance what route thell be testing you on, always helps, and be able to parrallell park w/the best of em
I'd say be confident, don't panic, and just stay focused and try and give your instructor a comfortable ride.
Just keep calm and relax. Don't panic if something goes wrong, I stalled my car on a hill on a dual carriageway and made a mess of reverse parking and still passed first time.
make the most of your lessons, lsten to all the advice your nstructor gives you carefully.

when it comes to your test just stay calm and don't panic
YOU CAN DO IT xD
Listen to you Instructor,
i dont know the best but the worst is that 43000 people die in car crashes every year
relax
Roadblocks are there to hit, but you dont have to...make sure you dont even tough them
The 3rd time I took my test I passed.

I pretended it wasn't a test!!
get the driving test dvd-rom
be calm
Safe driving tips to help pass your road test:

STEERING Steer smoothly whether you are driving straight ahead, turning or backing up.

ACCELERATION Accelerate smoothly and moderately. Don't race the engine or cause it to stall.

BRAKING Bring the vehicle to a stop gently. Start braking well before your stopping position to avoid ';jerky'; stops. Make sure you stop your vehicle in the proper position of the lane.

CLUTCH/GEAR Always be sure your vehicle is in the correct gear. With either an automatic or a manual transmission, shift into the proper gear at the right time without ';grinding'; the gears.

SPEED Obey the posted speed limit, of course, but also adjust your speed properly due to weather, road, visibility and traffic conditions.

FOLLOWING DISTANCE Keep an adequate space ';cushion'; between your vehicle and those you are following. Use the ';two second rule'; described in the Driver's Manual. Be sure to increase your following distance in poor weather or visibility.

TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Know the meanings of signs, signals and pavement markings, and obey them consistently.

STOPPING POSITION If a stop is required, stop your vehicle before it reaches an intersecting street. If stop lines or crosswalks are present, stop before crossing them. If your view is blocked after stopping behind the crosswalk, move up until you can clearly see your way, then stop again if necessary.

LANE SELECTION AND POSITION Keep your vehicle in the proper traffic lane, especially when preparing to make turns. Don't allow room for another vehicle to pass you on the side that you are turning toward.

COMMUNICATION Let other drivers and pedestrians know which way you want to go. Use your directional signals or horn consistently and at the proper times.

OBSERVATION Look for and identify potential problems or hazards in the traffic around you - not just straight ahead, but behind you and on either side. Check your mirrors frequently, but be sure to look over your shoulder behind you when changing lanes or backing up.

ANTICIPATE %26amp; REACT TO OTHERS Anticipate possible driving errors by others and be ready to react safely to make up for their mistakes.
