How can/do the advice or suggestions of others influence young people?

I am writing an essay, and need loads of ideas for this essay topic. I am clueless. Thank you!How can/do the advice or suggestions of others influence young people?
friends have huge impact in dress, appearance, styles, likes/dislikes, even future professions (like my sister with her best friend)How can/do the advice or suggestions of others influence young people?
way more then people are willing to admit. young adults are usually self conscious and will not do or not do anything to alienate them from society
Ever hear the addage, ';you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink';? Same applies to this dilemma.
younger kids look up to their elders and are inspired to be like them, normally however your parents act you will act in the future.
Experience is wisdom...

First time buyer needs advice on buying used car. What are good brands to buy even when they are 15 yrs old?

And what do you suggest is a good VALUE when buying one of these cars?

What's the maximum mileage that a used car can have and still run well in your opinion?

And what questions should I ask the owner? What should I look for?

Thank you for your help.First time buyer needs advice on buying used car. What are good brands to buy even when they are 15 yrs old?
The one that has been well maintained. Ask for maintenance records and have a mechanic check it out before you buy.First time buyer needs advice on buying used car. What are good brands to buy even when they are 15 yrs old?
You should probably go with a Toyota Camry because the Honda's don't last (as) long and the Corolla should be the only other option, but during 1994-1997 the Corolla had trunk leaks during rainy days and you could see water spot inside the back tail lights that sometimes caused shortages. So your best shot will have to be a Camry.
I think I would suggest to you that you buy a brand new it'll save from lot's of headache compared to the old one who's always a problem.

Also you need to be aware on the law when you're going to a contract from a buyer.
Stick to Japanese brands (Toyota, Honda). For mileage stick to under 150,000 miles. You should definitely take the car to a trusted mechanic before buying the car.

Buy a Used Car: Save on Depreciation Buy a used car and you will spend less; but how much will repairs cost you in the months ahead? Buy a new car and you will have peace of mind, but your monthly budget will take quite a hit. When it comes time to a buy a car, the big question is, ';used or new?';

Buyers choose used cars far more often then new. Edmunds.com estimates that in 2006, Americans bought about 44 million used cars as compared to about 17 million new cars. The estimated average used car price: $13,900. The estimated average new car price is more than twice as much: $27,800.

The main reason for the sharp drop between new and used cars is depreciation. Savvy shoppers who take advantage of this can buy a ';newer'; used car for much less by waiting a year or two.

When you finance a car, remember that you will be paying for more than the vehicle. You will also be paying for the cost of credit, which includes interest and other loan fees. Keep in mind that annual percentage rates are higher and loan periods shorter when you buy a used car than when you buy new.

Car Care Tips

When you buy a used car, you would like it to last longer than your car loan. Here are some tips from AAA to help you keep your car on the road for years to come:

- Good maintenance. Most drivers change oil more often than they need to but don't rotate their tires as frequently as they should. Proper rotation can add as much as 10,000 miles to the life of a set of tires.

- Run your engine for a few minutes before powering up the heater, air conditioner, wipers and other accessories. Accelerating with a cold engine can cause premature engine failure.

- If your vehicle has fuel injection, keep the tank at least one-quarter full. Cornering with a nearly empty tank disrupts the flow to the fuel pump.

- Look for cracks or looseness in engine belts. Broken belts are a major reason for roadside breakdowns.

What is the best advice to give an entering freshman in college?

I am going to enter college this fall and I am just wondering what the best advice anyone has ever given you. What is the best advice to give an entering freshman in college?
1. GO TO CLASS

2. GO TO CLASS

Seriously, I didn't listen to that and it showed in my GPA. Professors will respect you and work with you more one on one if you actuallys how them the respect of attending their classes. What is the best advice to give an entering freshman in college?
Don't stay up till the early morning hours because you can, and don't pig out all night because you can.

Lack of sleep and pigging out cause you to gain a lot of weight really fast, and staying up late will probably make you sleep through class.

Go to class and do the homework - you're in college to make good grades, not to party 24/7. Have fun, but remember why you're really there.
Go to class unless you want to fail... trust me, some classes just seem as if its useless, but trust me, go to class... college is nothing like high school, no one is going to chase you around... you have to be responsible and diligent.
just be yourself and be the best as a freshman student.

however, you must be careful of maintaining your grades coz it'll be seen in your transcript after you graduated.

What is the best advice anyone has ever given you about marriage?

My fiancee and I are tying the knot on June 10th. What do you think it takes to have a successful marriage? What is the best advice anyone has ever given you about marriage?
Congratulations to the two of you!

Never go to bed angry

Never give the silent treatment

Never withhold sex, you can have sex without talking

Always communicate about everything, take time to listen and be heard as well

Compromise on things which an agreement cannot be reached

Work out a budget that is agreeable and stick to it

Do not keep secrets that are harmful to your spouse

Speak about how the children are going to be raised, religion, education, and discipline before they come into the picture

Pick your battles wisely, some things are simply not worth arguing about. And simple stupid arguments can lead to a divorce. What is the best advice anyone has ever given you about marriage?
My grandmother told me:

Acknowledge that there will be things you can and can't do, will and won't do. And then accept that there will be things your partner can and can't do, will and won't do. And then love them anyway.

I didn't really get it at the time (I was only 21 and thought that love conquered all..) but now that I'm middle aged, it totally rings true. I believe the reason my marriage is so strong is because I've accepted this.
Remember that in the greater scheme of things, it doesn't matter who is right, and 99% of all arguments are over nonsense that really doesn't mean anything.

Rather than argue over something stupid, walk away. If it's truly important, you can talk about it later, but odds are you will both forget the whole thing.

And remember to be yourself and let your partner do the same. You can't depend on them for your happiness or you will surely be disappointed. Continue to be the individual you were before, and not just half of a couple.
im gettin married this weekend sat. may 30th. and the only thing i believe in for a good marriage is one where both husband and wife work together, they understand each others needs, they truely love each other and live life to the fullest and make thier marriage the greatest and last forever
The most accurate advice I've ever been given is that relationships take work. And they do. It's about communicating the problems, compromising to solve them, and actually carrying the plan of action out.
DON'T DO IT!

Seriously......COMMUNICATION, consideration, passion, compatibility, sense of humor, compassion, Respect, Affection, understanding, Love, and compromise.
The best advice I've ever been given was :

';No matter how angry you are, Remember how much you love him.';

I can not tell you how many times I have come back to that advice. ( And.. how many heart aches it has saved me.)
Good and equal communication, and try always to understand your partners feelings, and never take your partner for granted.
Watch the movie Fireproof...not very good acting but it is very moving and has very good advice.
To put God first in everything that you do. With His help, anyone can succeed at whatever they do. '; With God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)
Never go to bed angry.

Essentially resolve your problems and don't let them drag on.
Always trying to out serve one another.
The best advice I got was to not get married. I didn't listen.

  • Does anyone have any advice for advertising a small business company?

Hello, I have started my own wedding planning business. I am seeking ways to advertise my business to the appropriate market. However, I would like to spend little money on the advertising to start with. All ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated!Does anyone have any advice for advertising a small business company?
There are some small business associations out there that are good at helping market and advertise your company. Americas Best Companies, http://www.americasbestcompanies.comDoes anyone have any advice for advertising a small business company?
Assuming that you have an active website, consider placement of various critical SEO [Search Engine Optimization] metatags that can

surely achieve a high search engine presence and

increase Internet traffic to your website. These

metatag strategies work well with published websites

    at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based

website, make sure to fill-in the property entries

such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing

to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can

be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the

Internet audience and their incoming setup. For

example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages

take too long to load up and therefore analog users

will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the

Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL

lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So

before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple

question, ';Who's my end user - is he on dialup or

DSL?'; And if you had to choose between these two users

for maximum marketability, then select analog users

since 80% of most resident users are still analog

Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages

    is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,

is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit

the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a

graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots

are unable to properly classify textual material.

    Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google

and Yahoo and it begins with the ';Title'; metag which

should consist of no more than 65 characters separated

by commas. The ';Title'; should describe in generic

terms, the goods and services, followed by a location

from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.

The placement of a domain name which is not generic

within the ';Title'; is not appropriate, unless your

domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the ';Description'; which is

usually 41 words to form a complete sentence which

best describes one's goods and services.

And the very last category - ';Keywords'; are also

somewhat limited to 15 words which can be plural

and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries

which could be mistaken as ';spamdexed entries'; which

is defined as the loading, and submission of

repetitive words into a particular metatag category.

';Spamdexing'; when discovered on a webpage and reported

to Google's spamreport.com can result in the

elimination of your website from their search

    directory.

    Good luck!
Yes. If you haven't taken complete control of all these free marketing avenues at Search Engines -- get started!

Register your business with Google.com (and other search engines). In less than a week they will contact you and give you lots of cool information on how to use it to your advantage. Then take active ownership of the site that pops up when you search your company name (maybe your company name plus zip code). Add photos, info, specific driving directions, etc. You can add lots of details. Do the same at other search engines.

Once you have your Google site started (and similarly at other sites), get to know every link and tab in that site. It is free. Have your friends and clients write reviews of your work there.

Then search your company through Google and other search engines and study every link that is associated and do the same at any of those sites that you can put to your advantage.

When you are ready to really get big and hire the best for top level Search Engine Optimization to get your business to top level, free organic listing (not paid), contact me at Mr.Yippee@yahoo.com.
It’s rarely an instant return on the Internet. You need your website coming up relevant to what people ';search for'; on the Internet. It takes time to get placement in the right places within the Internet and if you're listed in the right category of searches you stand a better chance of returns. The following is one of the better ways.

For a small charge you can have a “Permanent” website advertisement placed in an index such as this in a choice of around 750 categories to target your business trade.

This will raise your website profile and increase its chances of extra sales because this site is indexed by the search engines placing your site within public searches.

The advantage of a site like this is that you don’t have to update your listing again.

    For a permanent ongoing promotion:

Here are some free web marketing tips.

Not all web marketing needs to cost money. Aside from website submissions, there are a number of things that web marketers can do that are free, though they may be rather time-consuming. Other marketing tactics are relatively inexpensive, and are often well worth the investment.

Follow these basic steps to market your website and business.

    Free Web Marketing Tips

Start advertising with Google Adwords. Pay-per-click Program will help you to adverise specifically to your market.
you can do the usual stuff, like putting up ads in newspapers. but remember, provide good service to your clients, and they become automatic advertisers for you. so you should go out of your way to help them out.

Then you can create a website, which wont take up much money (conatct me at vr3690@gmail.com if you need help with that). That way you can put up links on dating and matrimonial sites to your website...

    Hi there,

My name is Jonathan and I am the president of Five Star Media Design,

to answer your question... right now I truly believe we will be your best bet!

We are a brand new company and we are offering our services at a very special prices, so remember if you've ever thought about advertising, you might as well do it now when its cheap!

    fivestarmediadesign@gmail.com
Please consider joining a business networking group like BNI. go to www.bni.com . I am a BNI member in Arizona. And it is a worldwide networking group. I have increased my business on a weekly basis by $1200 since I have joined this group. This is strict networking with other small business owners who basically become your sales army by referring their customer base to you. For example, in my group we have an excellent florist who would be a perfect person for you to team up with or a travel agent who could assist those couples for honeymoon or a lawyer if they need pre nups or a real estate agent to help find that perfect 1st new house.

By utilizing this networking approach, you become not only the one stop shop for your customers but you become a virtual ';fountain of information'; that will keep them talking forever about how great you are and what a wonderful service you provide.

You are obviously not employing these other people, they are joining forces basically with you... If you have a BNI chapter in your area, you can visit each chapter twice to decide if its for you. I am not selling you a service or an advertising gimmick however referral based networking is the BEST advertising cause its all word of mouth but when you have a whole chapter ';advertising'; for you its a great feeling!!!!
Wedding biz is all about references, and word of mouth. You are going to have to print some good and simple business cards. You are going to have to go to all the wedding shows and conventions, buying a table, and stand out there every chance you get to get the chance to work some weddings.

If you are really good, people will talk, and you will get calls out of the blue, but you better count of a few hard years getting started. Most rarely walk into a small start up business without tons connections first.

Also start a web page that is professional, and shows examples.

I know a lady who started making veils. She nows goes around the country modeling her products on the front page of major wedding magazines just staying with the crowds, and getting all those connections. People talk, if you stay around long enough.

    Bon Chance!
You seem to have had an overwhelming response, i'll be getting tips from a few of those answers my self.

What is the best advice for using a metz flash with a canon 5d on the ETTL mode?

Is there a little sneeky trick you can do to get the best results? (obviously other than tilting the head and upping the iso to 400.

What do you think? What is the best advice for using a metz flash with a canon 5d on the ETTL mode?
You have to be very careful, some of the older flashguns, particularly Metz, had a very high trigger voltage of several 100's of Volts, this would blow the circuitry in the camera to pieces. So please check the trigger voltage anything above 5 Volts is suspect. You can measure it with a Voltmeter (just let the flash charge up and measure the voltage across the trigger pins that connect to the camera) or just enter the model of flash into a search engine the official trigger voltage will be on the spec sheet. It needs to be below 5 Volts to be safe.

What is the best advice for training a doberman?

We have a female who is 4 months old. She is very alert and does let us know if ANYTHING is moving. She is already housebroken and knows how to ';sit';. So I know she is smart but I would just like to get some advice from someone who perhaps has skills in training a Dobie for personal protection. I dont want an agressive dog but I do want a dog who is going to not allow someone into our home. My children and I are alone at night alot due to hubbys work hours. What is the best advice for training a doberman?

Training a dog in personal protection is a serious project and one that should be done by someone who knows what they are doing. Unfortunately, most trainers today have no idea what training is or if they do, they will train personal protection dog using sport dog training methods and techniques. The two do not mix. Find someone qualified in both sport dog and personal training and look at some of the dogs he has trained. Protection training does not make a dog dangerous, it makes it dependable. A ';natural'; protection dog will never be dependable or reliable in time of an emergency. If what you really need is a protection dog, you NEED to KNOW that your dog will engage a human, regardless of what, when, where or why. Having said all that, your dog may not have what it takes to do real protection work. Have her tested first and then we can talk. Good luck.
Your pup should first go through basic obedience training before even considering the next step -- personal protection training. Unless your dog returns with the ';Come'; command 99.999% of the time, you're undertaking the thought of protection FAR too early in the game.

Having done protection training on several of my Dobes, I can assure you that they WOULD stand firm if someone was to enter my home uninvited. Two words beings them into ';watch'; mode. One word brings them up to the next level.

That having been said, all but my most recent pup have been through formal protection training. I did this training primarly to ensure the natural traits a Doberman has are used properly -- starting with proper use of voice versus going straight to bite.

Proper training is done by a professional. Group classes given by SPCA and Humane Society folk generally are obedience focused.

Protection training has the following value:

    * A well trained canine shows a willingness to defend his home and family with an authority that discourages violation of your privacy or safety.

    * Your dog is now an alarm system that travels with you, is not easily inactivated, and interprets what it detects with a brain programmed by nature to read body language.

    * A well trained canine is a protective barrier that is difficult to breach. They become a defense system that comes to your aid when needed or summoned. It cannot be pulled from you to be used against you or your loved ones. And -- unlike a bullet or chemical spray, once launched, this weapon can be recalled if the threat no longer exists.

    * Most importantly, a PROPERLY trained dog is merely a faithful, loving, gentle and well behaved member of your household who provides you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that he is on duty while you and your family go about your daily routine.

My Dobes are loyal and completely obedient companions who are primarily my lovable pets who snooze peacefully at my feet, but given a single command, become a totally protective man-stopper who are more than willing to put themselves between their loved ones and a threat. I assure you, any potential attacker would think twice before taking on one of my Dobes when I flip their switch.

BUT -- do not undertake this training unless you are fully dedicated to following up and ensuring YOU can manage what your dog knows. And KNOW -- REALLY KNOW -- your dog before you venture into this commitment.
Training a dog for protection is a skilled business for just the reason you state. They're not all that smart.

    It's like giving a kid a weapon.

The good news is that your Dobie will take her cues from your reaction and will probably become agressive if she sees that you're disturbed without training.

She already sounds a warning, which is guarding behavior.

What is the best advice for planning my retirement?

I'm in my early 30's and have already started a 401k plan with my company. I'm currently investing 5% and my company matches an additional 5%. I'm looking at other ideas to invest some money but don't know where to start. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. What is the best advice for planning my retirement?
You should be saving 15% for retirement in total.

Roth IRAs are great, as the money compounds tax free. When you retire your not charged any taxes, when you withdraw the cash.

The 401k is good if you have it working with deferred taxes. When you retire you pay the taxes, as you withdraw the cash.

If i was in your shoes, I'd do the minimum to get the full employer match and concentrate on the getting the Roth up to speed. After the Roth was fully funded, I'd go back to my 401 and increase to the full 15%.

Stay away from insurance company programs, that try to do an investment vehicle wrapped with insurance. If you look at the fee's they impose, it's a wonder that anyone makes any money (other than the salesman) from those programs.

The ultimate advice I can give is to make an appointment with a FEE ONLY financial advisor. These guys dont get any kickbacks or commisions from setting you up on a good program.

These guys have your best interest at heart as their not pressured to sell you anything. They get paid the same weither you get on a program or not. What is the best advice for planning my retirement?
So far you are doing the right thing.

The basic advice is start early, take maximum advantage of the amount you are able to contribute tax free, and since you are fairly young you have the opportunity to skew your investment choices towards higher growth selections because you have plenty of time to offset/react to the downturns that are more likely to occur with growth oriented choices.
Talk to a Broker/Dealer. They will suggest the best plan for you personally. This will mean putting money away each month but with the stock market the way it is you are bound to make more money than you put in.
The best advice I was ever given on this was that every time I got a raise, split it. Half goes immediately into my IRA or my 401(k) or another savings account, the other half I get to keep. This worked like a charm for me!
D, your next best bet is to contribute money into a Roth IRA, provided you can do it based on your income levels and how much you're contributing in dollars to your 401(k) (sometimes that can reduce or eliminate the amoutn you can put into a Roth). The Roth can be opened at almost any mutual fund company, bank, brokerage, or with a financial planner. Although you don't get a tax deduction for contributing to the Roth, it's actually better in the long run because (a) it grows tax free, (b) after age 59 1/2 and after having the Roth at least 5 years, you can take it out without paying a penny in tax and (c) if you never need the money, it grows tax free and you can leave it to your spouse or kids for THEM to have tax free! No Uncle Sam! SWEET!

    Check it out
Put some more money in that 401k. You can write it all off on your current taxes. Or you can also add a Roth 401k, that will grow tax free but not currently tax deductible. At your age, a Roth make sense.

What is the best advice you could give someone who is about to take their driving test?

There is an 8 week waiting list to take my test, so i have 8 weeks to prepare.

I am currently having a 3 hour lesson once a week with my instructor (please dont tell me to have more lessons, i cant afford it!).

Have you got any advice on how i can pass first time? What is the best advice you could give someone who is about to take their driving test?
just relax, dont worry about it, if you fail you can always take it again. good luck to you. xWhat is the best advice you could give someone who is about to take their driving test?
Just relax and do not take the test until you are confident in your ability to actually pass the exam. The perception is that examiners are always looking for reasons to fail new drivers. That is a misconception. Their primary function is to assure that you have the necessary skills to drive safely and be aware of your obligations as a driver. A good examiner will not try to trick you and will simply instruct you as to where to drive. They can, however, tell if your not ready and they will fail you for that.

You mentioned that you can't afford more than 8 weeks worth of lessons and you have set a deadline for yourself. That's not good. You are putting pressure on yourself before you even start. Learning to drive is not about cost. It is about responsibility and not a budgetary matter. If you can't afford the lessons how are you going to pay for the costs that are incurred when driving?
    * Don't be nervous

    * Talk with the examiner

    * Constantly check your mirrors (make sure the examiner knows you are checking the mirrors by slightly moving your head left or right)

    * Don't take any chances (e.g. if you the traffic lights amber and you think you can make it, Dont!)

    * take lessons near your test centre

    * Its ok to fail, don't let anyone say otherwise, you get the experience off it and come back even better, cos you know what to expect.

Wish you all the best! ;)
watch your speed! be very aware of the speedlimits when you take your test..DONT SPEED! thats an easy way to fail it. lol

wear your seatbelt.. use turn signals properly and before you change lanes.. check your blind spots.. come to a COMPLETE stop at stop signs.. that means after your car has completely stopped BEFORE the sign.. count to 3.. then look both ways to make sure traffic is clear before you put your foot on the gas again. check your rearview mirror.. not all the time.. but often enough so that the test giver can see that youre checking it. hmmmm i dunno.. just be safe.. and dont be too nervous. driving tests are pretty easy to pass.

    GOOD LUCK!
Eat a meal before the test and have a good cup of coffee to perk you up.

When you are driving keep your face relaxed even if you screw up; if you look comfortable behind the wheel of the car the examiner is less likely to mark you down.

If you fail, no big deal, just book another test.
If in yourself you feel competent, there is no reason why you should fail. Stay cool calm and collected and you should be fine. The examiner realises you are nervous and make allowances, they are not looking for the perfect driver, they are looking for you to be a safe driver. I wish you well
Try and keep as calm as possible and take your time

    Don't rush anything

    Concentrate as hard as possible

Use your mirrors often, and signal as often as appropriate

and if in doubt about whether to signal or not - signal anyway

    I passed first time

    Good Luck on the day!
just be calm and pay attention to detail, pass your written, have aclean car-no in advance what route thell be testing you on, always helps, and be able to parrallell park w/the best of em
I'd say be confident, don't panic, and just stay focused and try and give your instructor a comfortable ride.
Just keep calm and relax. Don't panic if something goes wrong, I stalled my car on a hill on a dual carriageway and made a mess of reverse parking and still passed first time.
make the most of your lessons, lsten to all the advice your nstructor gives you carefully.

when it comes to your test just stay calm and don't panic
    YOU CAN DO IT xD
    Listen to you Instructor,
i dont know the best but the worst is that 43000 people die in car crashes every year
    relax
Roadblocks are there to hit, but you dont have to...make sure you dont even tough them
The 3rd time I took my test I passed.

    I pretended it wasn't a test!!
    get the driving test dvd-rom
    be calm
Safe driving tips to help pass your road test:

STEERING Steer smoothly whether you are driving straight ahead, turning or backing up.

ACCELERATION Accelerate smoothly and moderately. Don't race the engine or cause it to stall.

BRAKING Bring the vehicle to a stop gently. Start braking well before your stopping position to avoid ';jerky'; stops. Make sure you stop your vehicle in the proper position of the lane.

CLUTCH/GEAR Always be sure your vehicle is in the correct gear. With either an automatic or a manual transmission, shift into the proper gear at the right time without ';grinding'; the gears.

SPEED Obey the posted speed limit, of course, but also adjust your speed properly due to weather, road, visibility and traffic conditions.

FOLLOWING DISTANCE Keep an adequate space ';cushion'; between your vehicle and those you are following. Use the ';two second rule'; described in the Driver's Manual. Be sure to increase your following distance in poor weather or visibility.

TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Know the meanings of signs, signals and pavement markings, and obey them consistently.

STOPPING POSITION If a stop is required, stop your vehicle before it reaches an intersecting street. If stop lines or crosswalks are present, stop before crossing them. If your view is blocked after stopping behind the crosswalk, move up until you can clearly see your way, then stop again if necessary.

LANE SELECTION AND POSITION Keep your vehicle in the proper traffic lane, especially when preparing to make turns. Don't allow room for another vehicle to pass you on the side that you are turning toward.

COMMUNICATION Let other drivers and pedestrians know which way you want to go. Use your directional signals or horn consistently and at the proper times.

OBSERVATION Look for and identify potential problems or hazards in the traffic around you - not just straight ahead, but behind you and on either side. Check your mirrors frequently, but be sure to look over your shoulder behind you when changing lanes or backing up.

ANTICIPATE %26amp; REACT TO OTHERS Anticipate possible driving errors by others and be ready to react safely to make up for their mistakes.

What are some good advice to help a 35 yr woman conceive a child?

We've tried artifical insemenation and it has not worked, our health plan does not cover IVF, we can't afford adoption either. Does taking prenatal pills daily help? What are some good advice to help a 35 yr woman conceive a child?
Taking prenatals is vital, though it wont increase your chance of conceiving, it will greatly increase your chance of carrying successfully.

-Eat healthy, drink lots of water

-DO NOT USE LUBE unless its a sperm friendly brand like preseed (which I highly recommend)

-stay laying down for at least 20 minutes after sex

-Orgasming will dilate your cervix and allow mmore sperm to get into your uterus, so have fun

Charting your basal body temp (sites light fertility friend will help), and using ovulation predictor kits is the best way to make sure you have sex during peak fertility. Peak fertility is from 3 days before ovulation to one day after. You want to make sure to have sex every 24-48 hours during that time for the best chances of conceiving.

Also, if there is a male factor, consider buying Instead cups, They're soft cups normally used for menstruation, but they can be used while TTC by putting them in after sex to hold the sperm up at the cervix for up to 12 hours.

Good luck! What are some good advice to help a 35 yr woman conceive a child?
    Hello,

Although I cannot comment on how to conceive I can give some information on adoption. Adopting through your State Child Protective Services is not expensive and often the children have monies set aside by the State to assist with daily living. You can get more information from your local CPS.

I can speak for the State of NJ, when you complete an adoptive home study (which is free with CPS), and complete mandatory trainings you then are hooked up with a resource worker who will help you through the process.

It is just a thought and could help a child in need of a forever home.
black tea and green tea enhance fertility

loosing weight[if you are overweight] or gaining alittle[if underweight]

do not stress. and just relax. take a hot bath at night[do not do it after ovulation] ..take a warm bath after then..

you can take prenatal vitamins thats fine. that's actually good!

try using robitussin[regular] and just use it up to ovulation, and also exercise!

trust me you'll see within a matter of 3month's you CM will be sooo much better..

good luck and baby dust to you!
There are some vitamins (such as Ovulex, Fertilaid, and Fertility Blend) that are supposed to help you get pregnant faster.

I just started taking Fertility Blend a month and a half ago, so I can't say for sure that they will work for me. . . but they have many good reviews.

Its made by Daily Wellness - maybe u should check out their website
the best advice would be to go to your doctor and talk about this and ask about seeing a sex therapist too

there are also many parenting sites for this but they are not as good to answering this question as what i have said above
I don't believe it's suppose to enhance your fertility or anything it's just good to take so you're baby is getting all the vitamins right off the bat.

  • What is your best advice to a woman who is trying to conceive?

My husband and I are planning to conceive in less than a year.

    What advice do you have?

Any advice is great! What is your best advice to a woman who is trying to conceive?
Take prenatals, now is a good time because it helps your body, and aids in growing your baby. Also, doing some gentle exercises from now till a couple months before birth can ease your body into the different physical changes you will be making. Try changing your diet, if you eat alot of spicy foods, heartburn will be killer when your baby gets bigger. Making love during your fertile times, check Babycenter.com for there fertility calculator, gives you the most chances of concieving. Also getting an appt with your Gyn/Ob doctor for a visit before concieving can help address any concerns you, your body, and the doctor might have. Not to mention seeing if this doctor cares enough to take care of your during your pregnancy. Good Luck. What is your best advice to a woman who is trying to conceive?
Have sex on a regular basis. Before breakfast, After Breakfast... Before Lunch, After lunch, During afternoon break, Before dinner, after dinner, after dessert, .... and all through the night!!!!!
Buy a basal body temperature thermometer and start charting your cycles

    fertilityfriend.com
    prenatal vitimins.

    both of you get checked out for possible ';road blocks';

    use clearblue ovulation predictor sticks.

    enjoy yourself!
begin taking prenatal vitamins...folic acid is good too!
To concieve you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.
Both of you should eat healthy, stay away from alcohol and nicotine, and don't stress out about getting pregnant. The female should start taking prenatal vitamins and calculate the ovulation time frame. For females with normal periods, the 14th day starting the day of your period is when you ovulate. You have 48hrs to have sex during that time to increase the chance of getting pregnant.
    try harder

I am looking for advice and tips on the best ways when trying to conceive?

Hi I am looking for advice on the best on what to do when trying to conceive. I am looking for my sister. She is trying to have a baby and she has tried for awhile with no results. What would you suggest for someone trying to make a little bundle of joy. Thanks everyone!I am looking for advice and tips on the best ways when trying to conceive?
First off make sure she has had a gyno check-up lately.

get her to start charting her cycle ei:taking temps every morning, checking cervical mucus and just monitoring symptoms in general.

Also, suggest a good book on fertility-my favorite is ';Taking charge of Your Fertility';.

It's very informative and helps out alot.

you might tell her about Ovulation Predicting Tests if she hasn't already tried them.

The key is to relax(yeah right)and just really know your body and have good timing.

Hope this helps:)I am looking for advice and tips on the best ways when trying to conceive?
Do what calebsmom said and she should also start taking prenatal vitamins immediately so the pregnancy is sustained after conception. Only about 30-40% of conceptions lead to sucessful pregnancies mostly bc the baby doesn't get the nutrients they need in the beginning.
Just in case it's the dad (it takes two to tango) - boxer shorts, no hot baths, and Proxeed:

    www.proxeed.com

    Worked for us.
sometimes people are doing everything right, like OPKs and having sex often etc, but if it's taking her too long, she should check with her obgyn to make sure everything is ok on her end but also her partners...they can do a general check up to make sure everything is ok... you can also an RE (fertility specialist) online for free to get their opinion, specially if it's been like over 6 months that they've been trying, if it's less probably no need, try www.FertilityTies.com

    good luck!

Where can i get advice about keeping my plant alive?

I got a plant in a floral arangement, it looked just like a branch, and i put it in water and it began to grow! I have no idea what it is, or how to keep it alive! I think it's starting to die! I need help!

Where can i get my plant identified, and get some advice about how to keep it alive?

Thanks!Where can i get advice about keeping my plant alive?
well, if you know where you got it, go back there and ask them for help.

or you can go to a local greenery or plant store, ask them to identify it, and ask for any tips.

or you can try your luck on the internet, look up pics of various plants it could be to first identify it, and then look up how to keep it alive once you have identified it

    good luck!

i know how tricky plants can be, i once got an orchid and it seemed to be dying, but i didnt know what kind it was, so i went online, identified it, and saved itWhere can i get advice about keeping my plant alive?
Do web search that offers information of plants and also has pictures of plants. You also might take it to a nursery and find someone knowledgeable on plants. Wrap the plant in a wet paper towel when you take it to a nursery.
You can take it to Home depot or OSH to get it identified.
If you could get Martha Stewart's telephone number, she could tell you what to do!

What is the weirdest advice you have gotten about raising your kids or about pregnancy?

I've seen a lot of serious questions tonight. So I thought I would ask something light hearted.

I know as parents or as pregnant women you get a lot of advice. Here I see a lot of the good advice that is shared.

So what is the weirdest, strangest, or something that made you laugh out loud advice you have gotten? Either about pregnancy or parenting. What is the weirdest advice you have gotten about raising your kids or about pregnancy?
I call those people the pregnancy police....

While I drinking my 1 measly small cup of coffee a day, someone was like, ';You can't have that! What are you thinking!!'; all frantic...I'm like, what the hell, are you my doctor??

One of my friends actually was like, ';Your going swimming this summer? What are you going to WEAR?!?!'; Ummm, a bathing suit?!?!? Haha

I get a lot of ';Don't lift that'; or ';You can't do that'; (things I already obviously know) and it's really annoying! I am 27 and a nurse! Everyone thinks they know better than you and you doctor

How can we shush the pregnancy police? What is the weirdest advice you have gotten about raising your kids or about pregnancy?
I've gotten a lot of good responses to my questions and a lot more weird ones than anything...

one thing would be to use a humidifier any time my daughter caught a cold of some sort. whether it be a little cough or a bad fever. i swear those things work miracles! That $9.99 and a late night trip to walgreens was well worth it!

one thing my m.i.l. did to my daughter when she got a bad fever at their house was to rub her down in vinegar then cut up thin slices of potato skins and soak those in vinegar, then wrap them in a head wrap of some sort and let her sleep in it... so weird! all it does is cook the potatos which soaks up the heat from her head... i've only had to do it once but it worked! it was one of those things that her mom did to all the kids and now she does it to her kids/ grand-kids.
I thought it was very odd to get the advice to let my daughter run the house naked when she was showing signs she wanted to potty train. I swore I never would, and then on a summer day she kept wanting to use the potty - but was only 2, and so i figured i would try it, and to my suprise she had no accidents on the floor - and was pretty much potty trained from then on.
A woman came up to me, butted into the conversation I was having with a friend and basically accosted me for wanting to co-sleep. she practically predicted my baby's death! I was so pissed who the hell was she to say something like that? I am all for a conversation about the pros and cons of a subject but seriously that lady got in my face and practically called me out for child abuse. I don't think some people don't realize how ridiculous they sound.
i am pregnant with my 3rd child i am still getting dumb advice from everyone including family. but the one that tops it all is when my 6month old got poison sumac cuz my mother n law had it and negleted to tell me and then she held my son. she told me to put clear nail polish all over his rash to help clear it up! i told her she was insane!
Ok here is one for you dear! My mom told me not to drink pop because it would eat the brain cells in the baby's brain! OMG! And she also told me that if i sleep on my back i would cause the baby to be fat. Too funny right? Good question!!
keep sock on baby never get colic = it either worked or a really good luck son never had it...

What is the best advice that you can give for labor and delivery?

My second birth is due to happen any day. I have been doing some reading and refreshing for tips for labor and delivery, but would love to hear YOUR best advice for anything related to birth, labor, delivery and post partum. What is the best advice that you can give for labor and delivery?
Trust your body. Let your uterus do the work it was created to do. Let it happen naturally, don't fight it, and go with the flow. The strong sensations are just that - sensations of the birth. Don't think of them as pain. Stay calm, and experience everything to the fullest. It is one of life's most awesome moments, maybe the most amazing and satisfying and creative thing you will ever do.

When the baby comes, take him/her into your arms immediately. Let the docs and nurses do their check-ups while you hold him/her. It's your child, your delivery, and your moment. You should be the first one your baby sees and feels.

Just enjoy the whole thing! Congrats, and good luck. What is the best advice that you can give for labor and delivery?
don't be scared. I''m looking forward to birth (any day now!) and I really looked forward to the birth of my first son as well. If you realize that your body is made to do this and that billions of woman have done it successfully than you will go into it with less tension and most likely have a better labor and delivery. Just remember that it is the best thing that you will ever do :)

What is the best advice you can give to someone starting a new position as a manager?

The position is in a relatively small office and I will be a project manager. What would you do to start the job out right? Give me your best first day on the job tips, and anything else you have learned while being a mananger. Thanks! What is the best advice you can give to someone starting a new position as a manager?
Never ask anyone on your team to work harder than you do. Give credit where credit is due...do not hog the spotlight when your team or a single member does a great job. Always treat the members of your team with the same respect that you expect from them. Leave slang and four letter words out of your vocabulary at work. Keep work at work, home at home. Get to know each member of your team...and remember to have compassion when they need it. Set goals that are attainable.

Good luck. What is the best advice you can give to someone starting a new position as a manager?
Make people respect you, Don't worrier about what people tell you, and make the decisions you feel are right.
Relax. Tell the truth. Be kind.....

    Good luck
    Be honest.

    Treat everybody the same.
    Failure is not an option...
Watch your back, cover your ***, and take the time to get to know your team.
dont play favorites be fair to everyone the same
Be a manager, but walk in the shoes of those who report to you. Understand them, take their issues and give them positive feedback in return. Compliment the littlest things they do well (in front of everyone) and if you have to give them feedback or talk to them about something, do it in private, one on one.

Be a boss, but don't boss them around. Take control, but don't make them feel like they have to do exactly what u say.

If they bring a problem to you, ask them if they have a solution as well. Don't expect them to bring u a whole load of problems without any solutions. Tell them that nicely.

    Best of luck.
Get to know your team very well and watch your back. Don't be the friend of your employees - just be their managers. Some if not all of them will try to be freinds with you by little they will use whatever information they get about you to blackmail you later on. Always be strong.
do your home work remember you will be the one making the final decision. don't think you know everything solicit help from others and they will do what they can to help you succeed, slight them and they will do everything they can to help you fail.

  • What is the best advice I could give my teenage daughter and son concerning sex, drugs and alcohol?

I have two teenagers who I am scared to death of them falling in to the sex, drugs, and alcohol consuming culture. Most of all gangs and the like. I have told the kids about the dangers of all three areas, but am I doing enough? I try to lead by example, but is that still enough? Please advise. What is the best advice I could give my teenage daughter and son concerning sex, drugs and alcohol?
First of all, thank you for raising a good citizen!

I think a big problem is that parents think one talk is enough. You have to keep an open and constant line of communication. Make sure that they know you are always willing to listen to them. Offer advice on how to avoid bad situations, and how to get out of one if they do happen to find themselves in one. If you feel comfortable enough, you can even share some of your own experiences. I know some parents think that they can not show a vulnerable side, and they want their children to think of them as flawless. I don't think that is the best philosophy. When parents carry on that act, I think it intimidates the child, and prevents them from going to the parent when in need of help or advice. Whatever you do, do not assume that because you said something once, that it doesn't have to be said again. That would be like asking your teenager to make their bed, and actually thinking they will remember 10 minutes later. Don't be overbearing and over controlling because that will only push them farther away. Do not be too lenient because they will walk all over you. Children need boundaries in order to feel secure. The tricky part is finding the right balance.

Good Luck, and thank you again for being an involved parent! What is the best advice I could give my teenage daughter and son concerning sex, drugs and alcohol?
Everything in moderation, including moderation. If you get preachy, they'll just have a nice easy thing to rebel against.
that's all you do and hope they got it.
I'm a father as well and what i try to get straight to them is that they can see me as THEIR FRIEND not as their father.

I mean, whatever question they have, whatever comment thy need to make, whatever, whatever... they can tell me their problems and joyous moments...share them with me as they would with their best friend.

If they see me as their father only, barriers tend to appear. they worry if I get mad, if I'll ground them for a year, etc.

Build confidence and friendship around them and I'm sure that will add to what you've already done.
ok watever you do dont tell them how much trouble they will be in cuz thats wat my parnts are doing .....i tell you iv gon the oposite way i think you should just let them get away with alchol but scare them about sex and drugs tell them some descusting storys like the girl will bleed heavy the first time ......that wud of put me off for a while
sex isent as fun when ur high/drunk and you cant really focus if ur messed up enough
Sounds like you are great keep the lines of communication open. Do not get hostile when the teenage girls tell you some off the wall stories just be firm and calm. When you are angry and yelling teenagers tend to do the opposite of everything the parent is trying to teach them and tell them.
';Don't do them';. Let them know that they might feel ready (physically); but emotionally, they're not - I'm talking about sex here. Teenagers have enough to manage without adding sex, drugs, and alcohol into the mix.
well lets see im 16 ok..

sex to tell the truth is inevitable every teen will have sex unless of course you trully are wishing to be abstinantt.

drugs. only idiots use them so im sure your kids will be safe.

and alcohol/beer is just like sex.

    everyone tryes it buts

its just a matter of weather u like it or not i myself dont really enjoyit. lol i hope i helped from a kids perpective,.
All you can try to do is communicate with them and trust that you raised them well enough to not fall into that scene. You have to be in constant contact with them and let them know that if they have any questions they can come to you no matter what. You can't judge them or make them feel stupid for asking things. You also can't just bring it up once and think that you did your job. You should always be nosey, ';where are you going?'; ';who are you going to be with?'; ';is there going to be parents there?'; etc. get to know their friends, and thier parents!
leading a good example does help because teenagers will think.. well if my parents do it then why cant i ? you know what i mean.

It all depends on who they hang around with, make sure their friends are good kids.

Because no matter how much of a good parent you are, your childrens friends have a big influence on them.

And if your worried about them having sex.. well make sure they know to use protection, and make sure they save theyre virginity for someone special.

Drugs and alcohol, both ruin lives. straightup tell them stories about kids you knew, that ended in death. its not cool, and they will probaably loose friends to it also.

tell them to be straight edge, its cool:)

straight edge = no casual sex, drinking, drugs.

What's the best advice for someone looking for scholarships?

My daughter is a Junior and wants to go to college on a full scholarship. She's a straight A student taking 2 AP classes, talented and very involved in the community. Any advice? What's the best advice for someone looking for scholarships?
You are starting at the right time. Go ahead and enter her into the fastweb database, the site below also information on scholarships and fastweb.

Make sure she plans on attending full time, full time student get more money, especially from the state. Good grades equal more money so thats a plus. Looks for private scholarships on the internet for her. Also look into women grants. The door is wide open for her.

Do you have any advice on a good Preschool Curriculum for Homeschooling?

I plan on homeschooling and want to start soon with a preschool curriculum. Does anyone have any suggestions?Do you have any advice on a good Preschool Curriculum for Homeschooling?
Games and fun are the best thing to do for preschoolers. Dramatic play. Going to neighborhood places and discussing what the fireman, policeman, dentist, postal worker, grocer and others do for the community. Reading good books. Counting rocks and marbles. Talking about trees, bugs, animals and examining them. Look at leaves and flower and point out their differences or similarities.

Preschoolers do not need a pen/pencil curriculum. They need Mom and Dad to spend time with them and teach them one on one. They need Mom and Dad to measure things with them, read them books, sing them songs, play with puzzles with them, dance and do finger plays. They just need to learn by play.Do you have any advice on a good Preschool Curriculum for Homeschooling?
Abeka. It is a wonderful curriculum.
Do a search online for homeschool preschool. Lots of ideas and suggestions and products come up. I think Sonlight has something structured set up if you want something super structured. I don't personally know a single homeschooling parent who has done a structured preschool with their kids. It's just been about having fun, showing them things, talking about things as they come up, giving them lots of fun things to do...
You need to think about how early learning fits in with your long term goals for your child. In my opinion it's way too soon to be pushing literacy, but reading books and learning about their paginess and pictures might be fun.

Everything at this age should be play based. We read to ds on demand because he likes it.

About the age of 2 children start to be able to think about how other people are thinking and are able to understand concepts like ';I like pizza but you like cabbage';. This awareness of other minds is worth cultivating as it is the basis of sympathy and consideration.

Make sure you have lots of fun. It's the secret of effective learning.

We love art galleries, not so much for the art but for the space and enviroment. And the cafe at the Whitworth is great.

Good luck from a Pre-HE Mummy in England.
You should start with the basics i.e. alphabet and sounds, numbers, counting, shapes, etc. If you have a dollar store in your area, they will have pre-k books. If you are looking for a curriculum to follow I would try A Beka or Rod and Staff.
I really love Kumon workbooks (you can get them at just about any bookstore) and Rod and Staff preschool A B C series.

    http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com/mm5/merc鈥?/a>

There is a free online curriculum called Letter of the Week

    http://www.letteroftheweek.com

But you really only need a formal curriculum if you want one. My daughter asks to do school, so I do a few workbook pages with her everday. But children learn just as much from playing, doing crafts, and helping their parents cook, do chores, run errands, etc.

Here's a list of fun, educational games:

    http://www.successful-homeschooling.com/鈥?/a>
No curriculum needed, take them to the library for story hour, get some coloring books, read out loud to them, find a play group, play games, watch DVDs like the Magic School Bus, Veggie Tales, Sesame Street (the older ones), print sheets of the Internet for free.

Get some computer software like Jump start, and Reader Rabbit.

All of these may be available at your local library.

If you would like a curriculum try the complete curriculum's for pre-schoolers , and Kindergartners at Sam's Clubs, or Barnes and Noble they will run between $5.00 and $20.00 depending on what you like.

Here are some good web sites:

These sites do require a $20.00 yearly fee to have full use of all their printable materials, but it is well worth it.

You can check them out for free, but it is a lot of curriculum in one place.

Preschool is pretty basic - the alphabet, counting, reading books, easy arts and crafts - it is mostly a socialization process to teach children how to behave and get along with others, to prepare them for school. Scheduled playtimes, taking turns, following directions in a classroom setting. Pretty basic stuff. My son loves it. (I am not homeschooling.)

I did look into it a while back; just do a search on amazon.com for ';homeschool preschool'; and you will get a list of books that may help you or give you ideas. You can often get a new or newish book from their used listings for less than half the new price, plus 3.99 shipping. I usually only get used if they are in ';very good'; or ';like new'; condition.
Books a million and barnes and noble carry very nice books that help teach letters, numbers, shapes, and the basic stuff. The books are around twenty dollars but last all year. Another book that is very effective is teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons. It doesnt take but like 20 min. a day and it works really well.

What is your best advice to someone who is moving to Monterey California?

My husband is already there training. He's in the military, and soon I will be moving there as well. I'm very curious about the area, and would love to hear anyone's advice that lives/has lived there before. What is your best advice to someone who is moving to Monterey California?
This is such a fantastic place to live. I can't tell you how fortunate you are. The beach, weather, restaurants, shops, ambience are all wonderful. San Francisco is a short drive away, as is Carmel and Santa Cruz. There are many good, friendly churches and some good schools. You will be able to build a lifetime of memories in a short time - take advantage of the climate and get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. Have fun! What is your best advice to someone who is moving to Monterey California?

What is the best advice for a woman who will travel Cuba?

I'm planning to go to cuba in May. I've never traveled alone before. Is it ok for a woman to travel alone there? I heard that Cuba is safe but these days I'm scared of course I'm excited though... I want you to give me some tips. What is the best advice for a woman who will travel Cuba?
I've been there 3 times; by myself as a single woman twice, and with my mid-sixty-year-old mom the last time. It's been easy to get around and the local people are wonderful. Public transportation for tourists is very good and you can try the modes the locals use, but they are usually overcrowded...though very cheap. I lived there for 4 months and had absolutely no problems in any of the cities I was in.

Staying in casa particulars (private homes) is a good, inexpensive way to stay in various parts of the country. I never had to reserve for this accomodation, but for your first night in Cuba it's comforting to have your reservation at a hotel that a taxi can take you to. Casas cost about $20-$25 US/night, but you use Cuban Convertible Pesos to pay. Don't take US money, unless you can afford the 12% exchange fee that the gov't is now charging for American dollars. It's better to use Canadian $$, Canadian traveller's cheques, your Credit Card (through a non-American bank), or your debit card.

I'm a BIG fan of Cuba...GO...and enjoy yourself without worry. What is the best advice for a woman who will travel Cuba?
As when going to any area outside of the area you currently live in, always stay safe. Make sure that you never travel with people that you don't know, and don't drink. Make sure you follow their customs (if they have anything special-- such as covering your arms if the law says so), and keep a good hold onto any of your personal information.
Take lots of condoms with you.
    dont belive them
Well, I'm From Cuba I moved to The U.S 5 years ago (my mom is fully Cuban and my dad is American) well cuba is an Ok place now just be careful and there are some good parts in cuba and some bad!

  • What is the best advice for introduce foods?

We have started cereal and oatmeal but I would like advice on the best way to introduce meals.

Example: Keep with cereal and add something new for lunch. I just would like some help schuduling in new foods. What is the best advice for introduce foods?
When I was doing cereal I would wait 3 hours from nursing/formula until cereal, then nurse or formula about 1 hour later. When I got up to about 1/4 cup of cereal, I could wait about 2. Then I start adding 1/8 cup veggies....gradually increasing ato 1/4 cup. Then I could wait about 2 1/2 hours. When I got through several veggies (4 days each to rule out any allergies)...I start with 1/8 cup fruit and gradually increased to 1/4 cup. Now I can go 3 hours from solids to next nurse/formula. So twice a day I do 1/4 c. cereal, veg, and fruit. Then nurse 4 times a day.

Hope this helps. Just e-mail if you have anymore questions. What is the best advice for introduce foods?
Try mixing mild flavored fruit purees into the cereal. Bannas%26amp; apples. Try yogurt too, very healthy. Stay away from yucky tasting things like peas%26amp; meats This will make your little eater aprehensive. You can also add mashed potatos %26amp; sweet potatoes. Butternut squash is another baby fav. One thing at a time, but pretty soon you'll be able to stick whatever you're having for dinner in the blender for baby.
Don't just try to feed baby straight solids right away. I introduced solids IN the rice cereal first. My daughter gradually started to notice the different flavors and after she got a little more used to the new flavors, I gave them to her food group at a time... Like only fruits for breakfast, a subtle veggie for lunch or dinner. Soon, my daughter was eating straight from the jar and loved it! I did still feed her cereal with fruit mixed in for breakfast though. That continued until she was about 6-7 months old since I was still nursing. I hope that helps, if you need more, feel free to email me! Good luck!
It all depends on your baby. Is your baby really ready for all these new foods? I am assuming your baby is ready for some solids because your baby is eating cereal. For introducing new foods you should: Introduce other solids gradually, one at a time, waiting at least three days after each new food. This way you'll get a heads-up if your baby has an allergic reaction to one of them (signs of an allergy may include diarrhea, a bloated tummy, increased gas, or a rash). If there's a family history of allergies, or your baby develops an allergic reaction during this process, start waiting up to a week between new foods. Best of luck to you!!!
You can add a new food every 3-4 days. If your baby is resistant to new things, offer the new food before the cereal, when she/he is most hungry.
I give my 7 month old....

Cereal and a bottle of milk for breakfast

then for lunch she gets 2.5 ounces of a vegi and 2.5 ounces of a fruit. and 4 ounces of milk.

then the next feeding *between lunch and dinner* she gets 6 ounces of milk and 2.5 ounces of fruit.

For dinner, she gets cereal and 2.5 ounces of of fruit and some milk.

    I was told from my daughters ped. to start out on Gerber 1st foods....vegis, and once your child has ate all the vegis then you can introduce the fruits. Then once they have had both of them for awhile, you can introduce the 'desserts, and puddings and such';

Vegis include...Peas, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots. * I think thats it* and fruits are....peaches, pears, applesauce, bananas.

And because of allergies her DR told me to wait 5-7 days before introducing a new food.

    Good Luck!

What is the best advice to give about eating out?

. There's nothing wrong with eating fried foods as long as you drink at least three glasses of water during the meal.

    B. Try to eat fish that's fried instead of broiled.

    C. When shopping, it's important to eat high-calorie snacks every two hours.

    D. Full-service restaurants usually provide the greatest variety and flexibility in types of foods and preparation methods. What is the best advice to give about eating out?
D of course...... Fried foods are not only fattening but high in cholesterol, one should never choose fried instead of broiled for dietary reasons as well as health reasons. once in a while is fine but not on a regular basis...... c is just a ridiculous statement, and d is most true.

What is the best advice you can give to a new science student?

I'm going to university soon to study nutrition (applied science). Was hoping to get some tips from former science students on how to make the learning/memorizing/commiting go a little more smoothly. What is the best advice you can give to a new science student?
Study groups help a lot. You'll make friends and have someone to commiserate with, too.

Be prepared for a lot of work, and not being able to party with your liberal arts roommates.

When you get discouraged, remember that you'll be graduating with a degree that will put you well on your way for a great career! What is the best advice you can give to a new science student?
Nutrition is one of the easier sciences.

I am a molecular biologist. I used to recite in the shower; i'd have it memorized in minutes.
STUDY...everyday not just before a midterm or exam...talk to your profs! if you don't understand, most of them are approachable
Read, read, read. Memorize much. Study in teams if you can. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
It does help to rewrite you lecture notes within a day of the lecture so that you can look back on them and understand it.

Whenever I forgot to rewrite things, I'd look back on my lecture notes and have no idea what's going on.

Do active study, not just passive study.

Instead of copying out of a textbook, draw diagrams/flowcharts/whatever. It gets the mind thinking and I found it extremely helpful.

Study groups are great too. If you don't understand something then someone will be able to teach you (and if they don't know, you can look it up and learn it together). And if they don't understand something that you do then you can teach them, reinforcing it in your mind. It's a win-win situation.

If you could pass on one piece of advice to your children, or the next generation, what one thing would you advise? What is the best advice you have ever recieved?
To speak up for yourself and show respect for all beings, human or animal ... doing otherwise demeans yourself more than the subject of your disrespect.

I think that learning how to communicate well, voice your feelings tactfully and without attacking is an important skill that is useful in all aspects of life. I work on that with my nearly four year old daughter... giving her words for her feelings when she doesn't yet know how to do it. I see it helping in the way that she freely expresses herself and in how well she does it for her age. I hope that it will help give her a solid base to build on.What is the best advice you have ever recieved?

Where can i get advice about how to best maintain a garden pond with fish and frogs in etc?

I've just moved into a house that has a pond in with plants fish loads of frog spawn and a pumped fountain. What i need to know is when should i feed the fish and how much? Should i leave the frog spawn in there with them? Should i clean out the pond? Any good advice or weblinks would be appreciated?Where can i get advice about how to best maintain a garden pond with fish and frogs in etc?
Please let you give one advice from a ';Once bitten, twice shy';.

Here is the story for all who will start this odyssee with

    pond in the garden

A local Ikea store offered last year some ponds for the garden. Because my gf pledged I bought it. The first 2 weeks it was a useless nice thing . But then ...

Be aware of the frogs barking in the night and the flies breeding in the warm water. Hords of mosquitos bite ne. All my neighborhood are now at the edge to insanity.

now we use it as a playground for my catWhere can i get advice about how to best maintain a garden pond with fish and frogs in etc?
only change 30% of the water and leave frogs in there and feed till they stop eating it little at a time more in summer
my advice for you is to snatch out the egs of frogs we do it in spring in Lithuania ,after this youll see that there are no frogs in your garden pond. The frogs egs look like little point.Good luck.

Can anyone give advice on how to control a mole invasion in your yard?

( My first question..thank you for answering )

Having a lot of problems with pesky moles taking over the yard. I would love to know of any

( original ) ideas other than the standard traps, pepper, gum or Castor Bean plant suggestions. Can anyone give advice on how to control a mole invasion in your yard?
To get rid of moles you have to get rid of the food source, grubs. Grub control treatments are most effective in late summer when the grubs are newly hatched and shallow in the soil. I have posted a link for you in eradicating the grubs. It is beneficial nematodes.

What are nematodes? Nematodes are naturally occurring, earth friendly microscopic worms.

Please see website I have posted for you.Can anyone give advice on how to control a mole invasion in your yard?
Go to the grocery store and get lye and put it in the tunnles they will lick it off their feet and die
In my area they go after grub worms in the soil. I used a multi-purpose insect controller. Sprinkled it over problem areas and I haven't had a problem since.
#1 You have to use Grub-ex in early summer.

#2 Get a hoop type mole trap, it's the only kind that works.

There may not be as many you think, one mole can do a

    lot of damage.

They are solitary animals, if you kill it, there may not be

    another.
As crazy as it sounds, they hate hard rock music. If you can find a small transistor radio, put it on a hard rock station turn it on, drop it into their hole and they will leave.
Get a cat! We don't have a problem anymore.
Sounds cruel but placing broken glass in their runs is a possible way to ask them to go elsewhere. Another is cedar shavings and mothballs pushed into their tunnels.

Although these were mentioned, juicy fruit gum worked in my case. A tablespoon of Castor bean oil mixed with two tablespoons of liquid detergent until it looks like shaving cream. Add to warm water in a sprinkling can and pour over trouble spots. But only after it has rained.
um a baseball bat hotdogs and cyanide
    Yeah. Get a cat.
We've also had problems with them, and this is what we did. Take dog poop and shove it down their hole. I'm not kidding! I guess they feel they're being invaded and won't use that hole again! My sister also used to do this and she no longer has any moles around, and neither do we.
You can put a cheap radio on a rock station in the hole really loud and that will keep them out of the yard and doesn't cost a lot of money, or spray your yard for grubs as that is one of their favorite foods.

  • What is some advice you can give me for trying tennis?

I really want to start playing tennis. I've been sort of playing it a little in the summer for a year with my family and I think it is really fun and hope to do it next year in High School. Any tips of advice you can give? No one in my family has really played tennis so they aren't as experienced. Any help would be great thanks! What is some advice you can give me for trying tennis?
just pick up a racquet and ball and go hit and serve...justs tart playing and ull get better..i started 2 summers ago..even though im anturally athletic im on the school varsity team now, and its a lot of fun. also watch videos on youtube or soemthing to learn beginner techniques

but it is a very hard sport to masterWhat is some advice you can give me for trying tennis?
I think if you are just starting out the best thing to do is to take a few lessons from someone. They can teach you the basics and then you can build on that and get better. Once you have a basic understanding of how to play you just need to play as much as you can. I find it helps me if I watch good players and try to emulate some of the things that they do. Like anything else, it takes a lot practice to get good.
It's not a good idea to play high school tennis after 1 year at it. You need to make sure you are ready and that you can make varsity before you can try out like me.

Get good equipment and learn the right techniques instead of hitting the wrong way.

Practice endurance and speed. Do footwork drills.

Practice with a ball machine everyday,
Join a club. Meet up with like-minded people %26amp; make some new friends. Some clubs give free lessons when you join up so shop around when lookin for a club. Maybe the family could join too.

No need to spend ridonkulous amounts of money, just spend as you progress.

Set up a routine so that you can fit it into your daily / weekly schedule

EG: School / Tennis / Swim / Home
Take lessons. Ask around for some names of instructors in your area. They will be able to tell you tips you wouldn't be able to know yourself and you will get better at a faster rate.
lessons would obviously be amazin but ya could definatly just look up some techniques...ya really just need to practice! =)
try taking group lessons. it's cheaper than private, and it's more fun. if u just want to learn, take private lessons. keep ur eye on the ball and be consistent
play with people better than u and get prince as your racket. Its great

    even for beginners.

I need some advice on plastering a long wall?

I've recently done a plastering course, and now feel reasonably confidentt to tackle some jobs in my home. I have fairly long walll to plaster, and am a little worried that I might not work fast enough to get the second coat on before the first coat goes off. Does anyone have any tips? I thought about using plaster flatness guides to section off the walls, but will I be able to ';key'; in a new section into a dried section?

Thanks in advance for any advice!I need some advice on plastering a long wall?
how long is a long wall ?..if more than 20 feet and you are new to the game .then by all means do it in two halves ..but modern plaster is very stable and will hold on a wall (trowable) for the best part of an hour if you keep the windows and doors shut ..if you do cut it in half then wet the edge of the new bit and start at that edge and the two edges will blend in easily don't take any notice of what Micheil says ..he is not a plasterer ..don't need pva ..use board finish ..and to get a good finish you do need two coats ..as your coursework will have shown ..if you do it as he says then the wall will bubble badly ..just be confident in yourself and it will be easy .stay calm .you don't get good luck you make it ps ..i am assuming it is a plasterboard wall ..if its a wall with a browning coat ..then apply the top coat the same day if possibleI need some advice on plastering a long wall?
The best way to do something like that is you carefully pick up the phone and call someone else to do it

how long is the wall ? you should be fine with 20 feet in one go.

    PVA the wall.

Get the first coat on, leave it 10 mins ( or probably start straightaway from the other end which will be going off )

Skim - you just need one coat anyway.

Work it flat, spraying with a garden spray to keep it workable - you know, one of those 1 litre sprays you use to feed plants in the greenhouse

I wouldn't partition it off, you will likely get crack lines in the future.

Use a proper mixer or drill paddle, mixing by hand is a waste of time and too inconsistant.

Use some decent %26amp; loud music - that helps

And remember, if it goes wrong its not the end of the world, you can re-skim if you need to. relax %26amp; have patience, plastering is a bit of a learning curve and you need to learn when to leave it alone.
I don't exactly know what you mean but I do know what plasterers did years ago before the advent of sheet rock. First the would lath the walls wood or wire lath. A scratch coat was apllied to the lath usually a brown rough mixture at the time it came in premixed bags. Finally the smooth white plaster was applied for the finish coat. I dont know if this helps but that was the process. Its best to finish a section at a time if your doing a wall finish it.

Does anyone have advice or recommendation for having a dishwasher installed into a Mobile home?

This is a double wide ( but box shape) It's a 2005 year model. This is Not to improve Value as I am quite aware mobile homes value goes Down NOT Up. This is just for a growing family and hand washing takes so much time/water. This will be in Northeast Georgia but any info on cost or anything. We will not live here forever but for the time being.... Thanks for any advice.Does anyone have advice or recommendation for having a dishwasher installed into a Mobile home?
Your kitchen probably has been designed to recieve a dishwasher,so it should be fairly easy.

On either side of your sink you should have a 24'; base cabinet.Remove this cabinet and a dishwasher will fit in.

You will need to run a wire to feed the D/W and the plumbing is all under the sink so thats no problem.

D/W start at around $200 and you can budget around $200 for plumbing and electrical.Does anyone have advice or recommendation for having a dishwasher installed into a Mobile home?
First you should look to your drought situation in GS. However, you need water no matter what. Lots of mobile homes and modulars come equipped with a DW and there is no reason yours shouldn't have one either. Same drains, same feeds, you will notice a slight downward trend in pressure at other taps while it is filling. But, if you have the counterspace close to your sink, where all the feeds will be, go for it. Even a portable will work. You just connect the hoses to your faucet and put the drain hose into your sink.

Just remember, if your DW has a heat wash and heat dry, your electric bill will go up a bit. I doubt your water bill will increase very much. They don't take much more water than washing and rinsing dishes two or three times a day.
