I need advice on how to care for a pregnant baby guinea pig?
Please help. I bought 2 female guinea's 7 weeks ago, both aged 7 weeks %26amp; one of them (Nibbles) has started getting rather plump, i was holding her %26amp; felt a few movements so i took her to the vet %26amp; she is defo pregnant. The vet said she is quite advanced %26amp; must have got pregnant at about 5 weeks old. Poor little thing.
Im so scared something is gonna happen to her when she gives birth %26amp; want some advice from any guinea pig owners - as i said i have only had them 7 weeks so i am new to this. I have researched loads on the internet %26amp; think its probably best if i seperate her from her sister (Geri) until i know they will all get along together - do you think this is the right thing to do or should i leave them all together? I too have been in the same situation. My Guinea Pig Mimi was Pregnant at seven weeks. First things first do not leave Nibbles and Geri together because when nibbles has the babies Geri will become Territorial and maybe even kill them. It is possible that she may not live through birth because she is so young. If you are witnessing the birth and think she is not going to make it then take her to the vet to have a

well if guinea pigs are anything like hamsters. I would at this time before the babies come along, get a separate cage and make sure there is fresh bedding and a safe hiding spot for the mama.......Don't be surprised if the first litter does not survive. I don't know if the mama being that young will be able to have a litter that is healthy.

I think both idesiremoonlight and emma are correct that you should separate the two female guinea pigs.You could have two cages set up near each other so they could have company but the mommy guinea pig will have a safe and quiet place to have her litter.I would also suggest you buy a cage from a pet store to reduce the chances of your pets from being injured by a poor construction job and also to reduce the chance of escape.
well you can keep her in a warm place. fresh foods like boiled eggs and fruit and vegies

She isn't a poor little thing she is doing what nature intended her to do. You do not have to do anything just continue to feed and water her like the other one. One day you will find a couple of babies in the same cage. They will have bright eyes and all their fur. They will nurse a bit from Mom but within a day or two they will be eating the same food. They are very self sufficient and self reliant. Ours gave birth and it was like she just separated herself into little ones.. they are very funny, jumpy little animals and easy to give away by the end of summer.
Continue to care for your guinea pig and make sure she has plenty of nutritous food (go easy on the lettuce and water friuts though) It may be a good idea to separate her from the other guinea pigs but keep them in cages close together so they can talk. If you leave her in with the other pigs, the new babies may be trampled by accident. Also try not to pick mama up. If you absolutely must, DO NOT put pressure on her pregnant belly. Goodluck and if the first litter doent make it, dont worry this is quite normal.

As long as you stick with hardy low-light plants you won't need much extra kit at all. Just a good substrate, good lighting and a lot of patience! I have Hygrophilia polysperma, the stuff is wild. From an original bunch I bought about 2 years ago I have now planted up about 5-6 tanks with it from 30 litres to 180 litres, and counting, the stuff just doesn't stop! And it's in a low-light situation with minimal fertilisation.

Learn all you can while you have the time. The competition is tough, but never think you can't do it. Also, many drama schools have summer programs. Go attend one. Read. Dance. Act. Sing. Rehearse monologues from plays which you have read. Spend a lot of time at the library in the theatre section. Stretch every day. And remember to breathe and find the time to relax and daydream. Any advice for repairing an alto saxophone?
I am planning on buying an alto saxophone from my roommate. It is incredibly underloved, but before I buy it from her, I need it appraised and I need to see how much the repair will cost. Can someone give me a site that will show me how much alto sax accessories cost? We're talking new mouthpiece (nothing fancy), new key pads, etc.

If you plan on doing the repairs yourself, stop right now. It is incredibly difficult, even for people that have been playing and working with the instrument for years. I tried ';repairing'; one of my horns after 13 years of playing and I still ended up taking it to a technician.
If you want a mouthpiece, a local music store will carry perfectly fine ones, and www.wwbw.com has great prices too. www.wwbw.com even lists pads and stuff like that, but just let a technician do it. If not, send it to a reputable saxophone or woodwind repair technician.That way, you have a better chance for the saxophone to get a better quality of repairs compared to sending it to a music store. If you do send it to a local music store...buyer beware. Most technicians at the local msuic store consider an instrument ';fixed'; if they can ';play'; it. I've had problems in the past with local band/orchestra repair technicians because of this. So, if you go this option, have a good saxophonist try it out first. That way, they can hear and feel what additional work needs to be done.

Again, if you have a saxophonist friend (or better yet, a private teacher), he/she can give you recommendations on what types of saxophone accessories to buy and where to purchase them. I would also recommend getting a decent saxophone case too--something big enough to stash your instrument, accessories, and music.
